Two men arrested on suspicion of money laundering

Two men were arrested in Wilmslow this week on suspicion of money laundering.

PC Paula Smallman was driving along Wilmslow Road at 9.30pm on Monday, 10th November, when she noticed a car driving erratically. After following the vehicle for a short distance PC Smallman stopped the car to speak to the occupants, at this point she noticed a strong smell of cannabis.

A search was made of the car and £10,000 was recovered.

Chief Inspector Peter Shaw of the Eastern Area Leadership Team said: "As a result of this excellent pro-active police work, £10,000 was recovered, the vehicle was seized and two men aged 29 and 30 from the Manchester area were arrested on suspicion of money laundering.

"The work of PC Smallman is another great example of how Cheshire officers are vigilant and aware of the signs of possible criminal activity and act swiftly to take criminals off the streets of Cheshire."
