Thirteen bikes stolen in spate of shed burglaries

Police are warning Wilmslow residents to ensure their sheds and garages are secure following a spate of break-ins this month.

During the first half of December there have been 14 offences, all of which have been within a relatively small area west of the town centre. Locations targeted were Oak Lane, Racecourse Road, Bourne Street, Northwood Road and Altrincham Road.

In all of these incidents the offenders have specifically targeted bikes, with a total of 13 stolen.

Three of which recovered after the offenders made off from police patrols soon after breaking in to a shed on Altrincham Road on Wednesday, 11th December.

Sgt Andy Miller of Wilmslow Neighbourhood Policing Team is asking for all Wilmslow residents to ensure that they keep their sheds and garages securely locked and not to leave their family bikes insecure overnight.

He said "All the incidents we are investigating have occurred overnight and all within a relatively small area so it is important that if you value your bike you keep it locked away securely. Extra patrols have been focusing on this issue and crime prevention is top of the agenda at the moment. We would ask all local residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately to the Police using our 101 number or 999 where appropriate."

If anyone has any information that they would like to pass on in confidence then they can phone crimestoppers on 0800555111.
