Wilmslow dog walkers urged to be vigilant following attempted robberies

Police are advising dog walkers in Wilmslow to be vigilant following two incidents of attempted robbery.

Between 6.30am and 7.30am on Sunday, 24th November, a woman was walking her dog off Manchester Road when a man approached her and grabbed her demanding money. She was able to break free and run off.

The offender is described as white, of slim build, 6ft tall and unshaven with dark scruffy hair. He had pockmarked cheeks and a large nose. He was wearing a puffa jacket, pale blue jeans and dark trainers.

Between the same times but on Tuesday, 26th November, a man approached another woman walking her dog in Lacey Green Park and knocked her to the ground. He attempted to take items from her pocket but ran off when the dog became aggressive.

The offender is described as white and was wearing an Adidas jacket.

DC Tim Humpage said: "Officers have stepped up patrols in the area and we are following a number of lines of enquiry.

"We are looking at whether the two are connected but can′t confirm this at this stage.

"In the meantime, we would urge dog walkers to be vigilant and stay in well lit areas during the dark morning walks.

"If you see anyone acting suspiciously while you are out on your walk, please contact police straight away."
