Residents invited to second police focus group

Wilmslow Police have set the date for the second meeting of the Focus Group to enable local residents to have their say about local issues which are of most concern to them.

The meeting will take place on Thursday 19th September from 7.15pm to 8pm at Wilmslow High School.

Inspector Sue Mills said "The meeting allows the public to set targets for the police to look at over the upcoming months. This increased engagement allows the police and public to have more interaction, questions will be answered by the attending officers and the next quarterly meetings priorities will be set."

She added "Looking back over the last Focus Group priorities speeding was a problem within the area of Morley Green road, this has been targeted by officers and a drop in drivers speed has been recorded producing good results within the area.

Speeding was also a concern in other areas of Wilmslow including Moor Lane and Manchester road, these roads have also been targeted and again we are seeing a reduction in the speed of cars within those areas. Please be mindful of your speed when driving along any road, as we head into the later part of the year the sun and sudden change of weather can make driving conditions difficult and may increase the chance of road traffic collisions."

Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting, during which the police will be updating the group on the concerns raised at the last meeting and discussing any new concerns.

Does the time mean 7:15 for 8pm turn up or we only get three quarters of an hour to air our thoughts and concerns? If its the latter, i suspect we could easily fill that with discussions about travellers :)

@Neil Matthews; The 'Refreshment' period allowed by our constabulary for their break coincidently is also 45 mins....?
With the greatest respect to Sue Mills; A number of issues already appear documented to FOCUS upon including.......... ..
1. Travellers.. and practical solutions to resolve unlawful encampments ... not merely adhering to PCC Dwyers negative doctrine
2. Increase in Parking fine revenue locally in A/E by 6222 percent...
Acceptable ? balanced against community needs .. More to follow in Wilmslow. ?.

@Nick Jones Cheshire East is a decriminalised enforcement authority. As such, any parking 'fines' (PCNs) are payable to CEC.
The Police only issue fixed penalty notices (FPNs) for obstruction and moving traffic offences, such as speeding etc.

Having been to previous Focus Groups I can confirm that they start at 7:15pm and aim to finish at 8:00pm.
