Homewatch crime summary: July 2013

During the month of July thirteen burglaries took place in the Wilmslow and Alderley Edge area.

Of these seven occurred in Wilmslow. These were on Lacey Green, Grange Park Avenue, Hawthorn Lane, Bollin Hill, Davenport Avenue, South Oak Lane and Lacey Avenue. Three occurred in Handforth, on Hill Drive, Delamere Road and Woodlands Road, one on Hollin Lane in Styal and two in Alderley Edge, on Brook Lane and Elm Grove.

There were also two attempted burglaries on Racecourse Road and Knutsford Road.

One vehicle was stolen from Brackenwood Mews, Wilmslow and there were six incidents of theft from vehicles during the month of July, three of which were in Wilmslow, two in Handforth and one in Alderley Edge.

Roads targeted in Wilmslow were: Vardon Drive, Manchester Road and Westward Road. The incidents in Handforth occurred on Brompton Way and Bulkeley Road and there was one incident on Heyes Lane in Alderley Edge.

Seven sheds or outbuildings were broken into and property stolen from Longmeade Gardens, Adlington Road, Torkington Road and Windermere Road in Wilmslow. In Handforth there were two incidents on Grangeway and one on Marlow Drive.

A police spokesperson said "With the warm weather still here please make sure that doors and windows are locked when you go out and that rear doors are secured even if you are just sitting in the garden. The warm weather does play a part in the amount of burglaries that occur at this time of year."
