Firefighters are inviting residents to drop into Wilmslow's newly-refurbished community Fire Station as it opens its doors to the public on Saturday, August 27th.

The station's face-lift will be open to the public from 10am until 4pm and visitors can take a tour around the new station facilities and its vehicles.

On display in the Station yard will be a number of specialist vehicles including: The Foam Tanker, a Targeted Response Vehicle, the Hazardous Materials Unit and fire engines. A road traffic collision extrication demonstration will be performed by firefighters and Wilmslow Fire Cadets will also be completing displays.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service's Road Safety department will also be on hand to offer advice and they will be bringing along a driving simulator for people to have a go on.

Station Manager Steve Flanagan said: "We are really proud with the new facilities and looking forward to welcoming the public and showing them around at this open day.

"Staff will also be giving out vital road and fire safety advice and we have a demonstration to show how we use some of our specialist equipment at road traffic incidents."

Admission to the open day is free.

The local fire service should be commended for this initiative.
