Fire crews have spent over four hours bringing a fire under control at a four-storey property on Victoria Road in Wilmslow.
Three fire engines, from Wilmslow, Knutsford and Macclesfield, were called to the blaze in the loft space of the semi-detached house at 10am this morning.
Six breathing apparatus wearers and three main jets were used to suppress the fire which also damaged the adjacent property.
Crews fought to extinguish the fire externally using roof ladders and internally by removing ceiling boards. An hydraulic platform was also in operation.
The fire, which at one point breached the roof of the building, has now been extinguished, two fire engines remain at the incident and crews are turning over and removing the rubble.
The cause of the blaze is suspected to be accidental.
