Wilmslow Town enjoyed a mixed weekend with resounding wins for the more senior sides and league and cup defeats for the juniors.
The U16s blasted their way through Altrincham Juniors in their cup quarter final. No less than eight different players found the back of the net in their 12-3 win; Rose, Dillon, Davies, Fallows (2), Mcbride (2), Worthington, Grainger and a Kirk hat-trick.
The U15s extended their incredible 100% record with a 5-0 away win over Longhey. Johnson, Stanyer, Swindells (2) and Whatson scored for the league leaders in their ninth successive win. Pindar was man of the match.
There were even more goals for the U13s in their 20-goal shoot out against Irlam Rangers. Kelly (4), Harrison (4), Hodkinson (2), Mail (2), Booth (2), Warner and Wootton were on target for Wilmslow in their 16-4 victory. Hill was man of the match. The U13s, bottom of the league at New Year with one point, have taken seven points from their last three fixtures.
There were league and cup defeats for the U12s. The Cougars went down 5-2 to league leaders Boothstown at the Jim Evison fields. The Panthers were in cup action against AFC Urmston Meadowside, where extra-time was required to separate the two sides. The full-time score was 4-4 before Urmston went on to win 7-4. Harris, McKew (2) and man of the match Strang scored the Panthers’ goals.
Mixed fortunes at U11. The Cougars were in contention against Hough End Griffins until half-time before fading to a 5-1 defeat. Fox scored the Cougars’ goal and Simmonds was man of the match. The Panthers welcomed Ashton on Mersey to Jim Evison and ran-out comfortable winners. Nield, Batra, Mehta, Wheeler, Vitale (3) and man of the match McAndry (2) scored the goals in their 9-0 victory.
There were local derbies for two of Wilmslow Town’s U10 sides. In Division 3, the Jaguars ended honours even with Wilmslow Sports Colts. Man of the match Cvetkovic scored both of the Jaguars’ goals in their 2-2 draw. In Division 2, the Cougars came off second best against Wilmslow Sports Pumas. Watts scored in the 3-1 defeat, Olivia Dixon was ‘man’ of the match. In Division 1, the Panthers travelled to AFC Urmston Meadowside where they were defeated 5-2. Man of the match Elliott and Attward were on target for the Panthers.
With no league action this week at U9, the Cougars took on Wythenshawe Town in a friendly at Sandilands. Livingston, Archer (3), Ford, Gozem, Mail and man of the match Lovatt scored for the Cougars in their 8-5 win.
