Appeal after petrol station robbery

Detectives in Wilmslow are appealing for witnesses following a robbery at the Shell Petrol Station on Dean Row Road.

At about 4.30am on 10th September 2010 an Audi S3 pulled onto the forecourt, a man got out of the vehicle, approached the service window and demanded that the cashier open the door.

When he refused, two other males from the car forced open the locked door and all males entered the shop armed with knives and crowbars. The member of staff was threatened, before the males stole the till and a quantity of cigarette packets.

The men left the store and made off in the Audi S3, which was involved in a collision on the A34 near to Polar Ford a short time later. No other vehicles were involved in the collision and the offenders made off on foot.

Enquiries have shown that the car was stolen from an address in Poynton the previous evening, and was used in a attempted burglary at the Coop store on School Lane in Poynton.

There is no other description of the offenders other than that they were wearing black clothing and face coverings (scarves and balaclavas).

Anyone with information in relation to these incidents is asked to contact DS Iain Madden at Wilmslow CID on 0845 458 0000 or alternatively Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.
