O2 saw huge demand for the new iPhone 4 this morning with over 100 people queuing down Grove Street when the store opened at 8.02. O2 had received their stock of 50 phones yesterday, so when staff arrived at 7.30 am the first 50 in the queue were given a numbered ticket and the unlucky ones, including myself, were turned away.
The deserved recipient of the Number 1 ticket had been waiting since 5.30 this morning.
Jon Parker, owner of O2 Wilmslow, said "The queue should be gone by 10 o'clock. The demand has far outstripped supply by approximately 4 to 1 but I expect to be re-stocked with more iPhone 4’s in the near future. O2 are quoting 10 working days but I think it will be sooner than this."
Meanwhile at phones 4u there was no queue because all 24 of the handsets they received had been pre-ordered.
The eagerly awaited iPhone 4 went on sale at 1,300 stores around the UK today, but many fans, like myself, will be disappointed due to the shortage of stock. Over 600 Apple fans were queuing outside the flagship store in London when it opened at 7 this morning, many of which had camped out overnight.
Jon added "Existing O2 Wilmslow customers wishing to upgrade and be informed of new stock arrivals can call the shop on 01625 538882 to be put on a reserve list, or they can email me and I’ll update everyone accordingly.
