Local roads closed due to flooding

IMG_0524

Heavy rainfall over the last 24 hours has caused flooding on many local roads.

As a result of the downpours the A34 Alderley Edge bypass, Alderley Road in Wilmslow and the M56 westbound between junctions J6 and J8 are currently closed.

The Environment Agency issued a flood alert on New Year's Eve for the River Bollin catchment areas around Knutsford, Wilmslow, Hale, Macclesfield and Bollington.

Alderley Road was open yesterday and no flooding on the bye pass. What has changed?

This happens because the local council send men out with blowers sending leaves from the pavements into the road. This in turn blocks all the drains. The stupidness is strong at Cheshire East !

it's Whitehall Bridge which floods routinely due to Whitehall Brook and the drainage issue at Fulshawhall and has nothing to do with leaf blowers.
