Last orders for Wilmslow town centre pub

A town centre pub has closed its doors "for the foreseeable" due to spiralling costs.

Following a £500,000 investment by the Spirit Pub Company, what was The Swan re-opened in June 2015 as a new pub and called Anthology.

However, after trading for nearly eight years a spokesperson for Anthology posted "It's with deep sadness that, due to rising utility & rent bills, we unfortunately have to announce that Anthology Wilmslow has closed its doors for the foreseeable."

The 2020 COVID pandemic saw Anthology, like many public houses around the country, close it's doors for nearly 24 months. However, in December 2022, Anthology was reopened to the public.

It is a great shame that Antholgy has closed again. We enjoyed drinking there.

The large power bill increases for businesses expected on 01 April and the cost of introducing a full meal service may have added to the reason to close.

I wonder what will happen to the adjoining Grape&Grain/Bollin Fee/Brewhouse&Kitchen site?

Such a shame, that was a nice alternative to the more trendy bars that proliferate. And they had good beers.
