Wilmslow’s Coronation celebrations confirmed

Wilmslow Town Council has confirmed the details of their plans to help local residents celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III in May.

A big community Coronation celebration in will be held in Bank Square and the surrounding areas on Sunday 7th May from 12pm to 4pm.

Road closures have been arranged to provide a safe space for families and friends to relax and enjoy the day, with music, entertainment, family activities, community group stalls and seating.

Activities and entertainment will include Punch and Judy, crazy golf, crafts and funfair-style games with events spanning across Bank Square, Grove Street, Green Lane and Hawthorn Lane.

The community celebration is being organised by Wilmslow Town Council in partnership with Wilmslow's BID (represented by Wilmslow's Way Better), in association with the nationwide Coronation Big Lunch' initiative.

Wilmslow Town Council is also delighted to offer grants of £50 to help groups of Wilmslow residents to organise local neighbourhood community events to celebrate the Coronation.

The grants are for street parties taking place between 6th and 8th May 2023, to purchase items such as bunting, tablecloths, paper plates, hats and signage.

The Town Clerk said "The Town Council is delighted to work closely with the Town Centre businesses, through the BID, to organise the town centre celebrations to mark the King's Coronation.

"It will be a weekend that will be recalled throughout our lives, and we hope that many will either organise their own street parties or will join us in Wilmslow town centre for our wider-community event"
