Trains services were disrupted and passengers had to evacuate a train at Wilmslow Station after another fire broke out on Sunday, 12th March.
Four fire engines from Wilmslow, Macclesfield, Cheadle and Stockport attended the incident at 5.49pm.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said "The fire involved an overheated axle box near to the wheels of a train. Crews used dry powder and a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire, then cooled the box using the hose reel jet and monitored for hotspots using a thermal imaging camera.
"All passengers had been removed from the train, however it was necessary to put a temporary stop on the rail line in order for firefighters to safely access and deal with the incident before it was handed over to Network Rail."
Passengers had to evacuate a train at Wilmslow Station on February 22nd after a fire broke out in a single carriage of a train. The fire is believed to have been electrical.
A second incident occurred on March 1st after smoke was seen to be coming from below a carriage of a train at the station platform. The cause of the fire is believed to be mechanical.
