Local Wilmslow man, Scott Storey, has launched a business based in Wilmslow, James Grace Staircase Renovations, which will see many of us transforming our homes with a new look staircase.
Scott is an interiors professional and has specialised in the staircase industry for the past fourteen years, most recently supplying bespoke staircases for multi-million pound properties. Having seen how a fabulous staircase can turn an entrance hall into a real statement Scott is channelling his many years’ experience into helping people transform their homes by giving their staircase an updated look.
The entrepreneur is hoping to benefit from the current innovation of ‘improving not moving’ where homeowners, nervous of the housing market, are staying in their current homes and doing them up rather than moving house.
Commenting on the new venture, Scott said: “People learn to live with their staircases, even if they look old fashioned and out of date, because they don’t think it’s possible to change them without major structural work. Having worked with staircases I knew we could offer a convenient and affordable solution to renovate staircases and that’s exactly what we are now doing.”
With the James Grace service the structural components of the staircase are left in place and the treads, risers and strings re-clad in new wood. All other components, such as the spindles, are removed and replaced in hardwood or even metals or glass, achieving either a classic or contemporary look.
