The RHS judges were hugely impressed with the seven 'Neighbourhood' entries during their visit to Wilmslow in July.
Gold awards went to Chapel Lane, Lindow Common, the Community Market Gardens at Oakenclough and the Temp and to the United Reformed Church.
Meanwhile they awarded Silver Gilt to Wilmslow and District Rotary for their work on the rose beds in the Memorial Gardens and to the Friends of Wilmslow Station.
Additionally the work at Oakenclough was recognised with a special award "Grow your own" for their community involvement.
The two Judges – Dave Bielawski, who last judged the town's entry in 2015, and Bernard Pendleton, Regional Chair of northwest In Bloom – toured Wilmslow in July and afterwards joined team members for lunch at Oakenclough. The scope of their visit was helped by the loan of a minibus from Wilmslow High
school.
Sue Worthington, Chair of Wilmslow In Bloom, said "We are all very proud of the work of our volunteers. We were all particularly pleased with the first Gold award for the URC as their entry has been very close in past years. The Silver Gilt for the Station is also pleasing as this is a difficult site not least for the difficulty of access."
