Three new community grants awarded

Wilmslow Town Council has awarded three new Community Grants, to Bare Necessities Toiletry Bank, Wilmslow Bowling Club and Alderley and Wilmslow Musical Theare Company.

Bare Necessities Toiletry Bank - a registered charity who collect and distribute toiletry packs within the local community to help alleviate hygiene poverty experienced by those in financial crisis - has received £2,500.

The funding will be used to buy toiletries - such as toothpaste, shampoo and soap - in bulk to form some of the essentials that go into the packs for people who find hard to provide for their families. Whilst Bare Necessities is very grateful to individuals who put products into their donation boxes, this grant will help them when they have a shortfall of specific items.

Wilmslow Bowling Club – who offer crown green bowling experiences for all ages, both socially and competitively, has been awarded £2,000. The grant will assist with the cost of re-felting the roof of the clubhouse and adjoining building, to prevent internal damage following identified leaks, which will ensure that the Bowling Club's indoor facilities remain in good condition to serve the people of Wilmslow.

Alderley and Wilmslow Musical Theatre Company (AWMTC) - an all-inclusive adult society who provide the Wilmslow community with access to musical, dramatic and operatic arts - has been awarded a grant of £2,000.

Frank McCarthy, Chairman of Wilmslow Town Council, said of the grants, "It is a pleasure to provide funding to the three very different projects, which very much highlight the breadth of support available through the Council's grant scheme. We wish all three groups success with their plans."
