Youth pantomime delights audience in new venue

Cheshire Youth Pantomime Society (CHYPS) performed their annual pantomime Peter Pan last week at the Evans Theatre in Wilmslow Leisure Centre.

CHYPS is a community youth theatre group consisting of 11 to 18 year olds, over half of whom attend Wilmslow High School.

Vice Chairman Bill Beton said "We were blown away by the support we had from the people of Wilmslow.

"The shows were spectacular, with a live band and amazing lighting and effects. We were even able to 'fly' Peter Pan onstage."

The show was directed by Sally Hunt., she commented "We have some extremely talented teenagers in the cast. Many of them have plans to go to drama college and hope to make a career in theatre. They work very hard, and it showed last week. The audiences loved it!"

This is the first time CHYPS have performed at Wilmslow Leisure Centre.

Bill Beton said "It's an excellent venue for theatre and enabled us to bring in a full professional lighting rig. We're delighted with our new home."

CHYPS will be holding auditions for new members in March. If you'd like further information, or to be added to the CHYPS mailing list, email [email protected].
