Lindow 1st XI travelled to Congleton in the rain knowing that the 2nd and 3rd XI matches had already been called off due to the weather. After a two hour delay and an early tea, the game began, albeit in a reduced 30 overs a side format.
Lindow won the toss and elected to bowl. Congleton made a good start and after 19 overs Lindow only had a run out to show for their efforts as the home side reached 80-1.
From here the introduction of Sully Raja (3-44) and Tim Affleck (3-33) saw a steady flow of wickets, with Congleton finishing on a competitive 140-7.
The Lindow response got off to a quick start as twenty runs were added in the first three overs, but a sharp run out left the score at 22-1. The Lindow batsmen just couldn't get going and at 67-7 it looked certain that the league leaders would fall to their first defeat of the season. However a stoic 60 from Rob Herriott and a counter-attacking 29 from Rana Rauf were enough to get Lindow to 124-9 and secure a draw. They will look to get back to winning ways next Saturday when Tattenhall visit Upcast Lane.
