All priority routes across Cheshire East are being salted from 4pm today, following a weather forecast for freezing temperatures with a chance of snow in places over the next 24 hours.

The Met Office has informed Cheshire East Council that a chance of snowfall is "likely" in this area with accumulations of 1-3cm in parts and 2-5cm on higher ground.

Temperatures are set to drop to -7C overnight which could lead to a build up of ice on local roads and pavements. The freezing temperatures are set to continue over the next 48 hours.

A Cheshire East spokesman said "Motorists and pedestrians are asked to take extra care when making a journey."
