A group of parents whose children attend Ashdene Primary School are preparing to take on the Three Peaks Challenge.

At the beginning of July, 24 climbers will be climbing the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales in 24 hours to raise money for charity.

To complete the National Three Peaks the group will start at Ben Nevis at 5pm on July 8th. They will then make their way through the night to Scafell Pike for dawn and finally head over to Snowdon to ascend and descend by 5pm on July 9th.

The money raised will be split between Ashdene School PTA and the Seashell Trust which providing a creative, happy and secure environment for children and adults with complex and severe learning disabilities.

Neil Hughes said "We took on the challenge some of us having done the Three Peaks previously for Ashdene PTA and ActionAid 5 years ago when we raised £6,357.26

"If we can get anywhere near this amount it would be a fantastic result and as school budgets are squeezed going forward it is ever more important for a school PTA to raise funds for our children. Clearly Seashell trust is a very worthy cause as well."

Neil added "We all have personal goals and reasons for doing the challenge besides the charities whether to general keep fit and lose weight but also to set a good example to our kids."

If you would like to support the group's fundraising efforts donations can be made via their JustGiving page.
