George Osborne lights up the Lane

Tatton MP George Osborne visited Chapel Lane today (Friday, 2nd December) to support local businesses in the run up to Christmas and switch on the festive lights.

Chapel Lane Business Group have made a concerted effort this year to put on a lovely display of wreaths, Christmas trees, decorations and Christmas lights so the Lane looks very Christmassy.

Mr Osborne also listened to concerns from local residents about the lack of road signs pointing visitors to the Chapel Lane shops and pledged to take the matter up with Cheshire East Council.

George said: "Wilmslow is home to some fantastic local businesses and they make a vital contribution to our growing Cheshire economy. With Small Business Saturday this month, it's a timely reminder that local shops need our custom if they are to thrive. As Wilmslow's MP they have my full support."

Last week children from two local primary schools helped decorate the Christmas trees with decorations they had made themselves. A third tree was decorated by Chapel Lane Business Group members.

Children from Ashdene and St. Annes Fulshaw schools went along to Chapel Lane on Wednesday, 23rd November, to hang their decorations and sing Christmas carols round the trees.
