Fire Protection teams from across Cheshire East will be engaging with Handforth businesses on Friday, 7th December.
The Protection teams will be calling on businesses to ensure that they are meeting general and specific fire safety standards. Inspectors will also advise businesses on the benefit of creating Business Continuity Plans in order to prevent potential threats to their company and be able to deal with them systemically should they occur.
Mark Burrage, Watch Manager for Cheshire East, said; "It's crucial for all businesses to ensure they are meeting fire safety standards. Not only does this keep people safe it also protects their business. This is why having a business continuity plan is so important. How is your company going to prevent potential threats? Is there a plan to follow in the event of a threat and how would a company recover? Being prepared is the best way to prevent potential threats to companies, and to deal with them should they occur.
"Handforth should provide the perfect platform to promote our message and we hope to get a really positive reception from the businesses we speak to."
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service would like to extend the Protection Team's vital advice to businesses across the region. Here are 'SIMPLE' fire safety measures to protect themselves, their colleagues and customers, and ultimately the business.
• Store stock safely: keep corridors, stairs and exits clear
• Identify alarm points so you can warn others
• Make sure doors are closed to stop fires from spreading
• Place things that catch fire away from things that cause fire
• Let someone know if you spot fire safety problems
• Ensure everyone knows what to do if a fire alarm sounds
