Handforth Scouts to host charity bonfire and fireworks display

A scout group in Handforth is organising a bonfire and fireworks display again this year having revitalised the family event in 2015 as part of their 90th anniversary celebrations.

1st Handforth Scouts are holding their charity fireworks night on Saturday, 5th November at the Scout Hut on Old Road, next to Handforth Youth Club.

This family-friendly event features a bonfire and fireworks display along with refreshments, available from a BBQ and well stocked bar, whilst those with a sweet tooth can enjoy sweets, crisps, cold drinks and other treats.

Joe Gaffney, Scout Leader 1st Handforth Scouts said "Handforth Bonfire and Fireworks Night is a charity event organised by 1st Handforth Scouts, Cubs and Beavers. All proceeds go to 1st Handforth Scouting group and form an essential part of our fundraising to help us continue the scouting movement in Handforth."

Entertainment will also include games for the children, tombola and raffle.

Gates will open from 5pm, from which time food and drink will be available. They bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm followed by the fireworks display at 7.30pm.

Discounted tickets can be purchased in advance online, priced £4 for adults and £2 for children. Alternatively they will be available on the gate at £5 for adults and £2.50 for children.

Organisers advise people to wear wellington boots or other suitable footwear as it may get muddy.

Parking is available at St Benedict's RC Church.

Personal fireworks and sparklers are not allowed.
