Lindow Cricket Club has been shortlisted for the title of Cheshire East 'Club of the Year' at the upcoming Everybody Awards evening being held at Wrenbury Hall on October 7th.

The 'Club of the Year' award is presented to the community club that has excelled most over the last 12 months, when considering success with performance, gaining Clubmark accreditation, community health and wellbeing initiatives and facility developments.

Lindow are the only cricket club to be shortlisted and are up against four other clubs for the top honour – Macclesfield Harriers & Athletics Club, Satellites of Macclesfield Swimming Club, Egerton Youth Gymnastics Club and South Cheshire ABC Boxing Club from Crewe.

The judging panel recognised Lindow's all-round achievements over the last 12 months, including all three senior teams playing in the Cheshire County League for the first time, having a club record number of junior members, the introduction of girls-only sessions, the creation of the 'Lindow Cup' for local primary schools and the fundraising and investment of almost £90,000 into new facilities at their Upcast Lane ground. It now remains to be seen whether it will be enough to land them the award next month.

David Kendrick, Club Chairman, commented "We're thrilled that our hard work as a club run by volunteers has been recognised by being shortlisted for this award. It's been another wonderful year for the club in so many ways and it would be fantastic if we could scoop the Club of the Year award on the night."
