This weekend Wilmslow Hockey Club ladies first team faced tough opposition in the name of Timperley, the match was highly contested as a win for either team would move them to second place in the league.
Wilmslow were dominant from the first whistle and retained the majority of the possession. The ladies attacked the goal numerous times in the first half, however were not rewarded for their hard work. Timperley were slowly faltering under the pressure from the ladies however the first half ended without either team impacting the scoreboard.
The second half resumed and Wilmslow were determined to create a score line, which represented their hard work. The ladies pressed forward with Timperley playing a very defensive game, Wilmslow were eventually rewarded with a goal from Jacq Morgan, assisted by Hannah Kelman. The match ended with a 1-0 win to Wilmslow which elevated them to 2nd place in the league.
Elsewhere the ladies second team smashed Buckley ladies 5-2 with a goal scored by Fiona Jeffers and Jenny Nurmi who scored four goals, she was later rewarded with man of the match. The ladies third team narrowly lost 2-1 to Lymm despite a valiant effort.
The men's first team beat Lytham St Annes a tremendous 6-0, whilst the men's second team beat Macclesfield 6-2, the third team displayed an outstanding performance against Stockport Bramhall beating them 11-2, however the men's fourth team lost 4-0 to Sandbach, the Under 15's also lost 5-0 against Neston South Wirral.
