Plans for Chapel Lane coffee shop approved

DSCN1277

Planning permission has been granted for a new coffee shop in a semi-detached building on Chapel Lane.

The new business will occupy the ground floor of 47 and 49 Chapel Lane. Number 47 is currently occupied by Hound and Hart and previously, for many years, it housed The Wool Shop. Whilst number 49 is currently a hypnotherapists studio which will re-locate to the rear single storey section of the property.

The scheme also includes installing toilet facilities to the rear of number 47 to serve the coffee shop and a new kitchen will be located in the rear room of number 49.

The first floor of both 47 and 49 will remain a residential flat but the layout will be altered to create a two bedroom flat with a kitchen, bathroom and dining hall. The internal access to the first floor flat will be removed and access will be provided by a new external staircase.

The rear garden will also be cleared and landscaped and the three car parking spaces to the front of the property will be retained.

According to the Design and Access Statement "The coffee shop is to provide hot and cold beverages and small snacks. It is intended to provide further business and employment to the Chapel Lane community as presently this type of facility does not exist in the area."

The plans can be viewed on the Cheshire East Council website by searching for planning reference 15/1614M.

Why not, Chapel Lane is a vibrant and successful place, with small businesses, butcher, baker, fishmonger, pub, and many others, with real character. A type of street which has become an endangered species in most towns, as the chains and multiples take over. Small coffee shop, yes. Wish every success.
What about the sadly closed corner unit on Moor Lane/ Oak Lane. Any takers for that one, it's been empty for two years.I hope somebody with the enterprise, risk, and willingness to start a new venture as those who will open the new coffee shop, can add to this unique village area.

What a lovely positive comment from Chris. We are indeed very lucky to have a lane that doesn't have empty units which sadly blight a lot of small towns all over the country.
I work on Chapel Lane and it is a lovely area and we are very happy to hear the news that the coffee shop is to open. Please support it and all the other shops too!

Pity about the parking on Chapel Lane. It's a wonder there are not a lot more accidents on that road due to the fact it's a narrow road and people parking where they shouldn't.

@ Jon Williams. Neither Peter Herds or Taste Buds further up the road have indoor seating facilities. So the answer to your question is no as there is no where to sit inside in winter or during rainy summers days at either of these establishments.
