The Arensky Trio to perform Summer Serenade

Stephen Threlfall (3)

Having just conducted Chetham's Symphony Orchestra in triumphant performances of Mahler's Third Symphony at the Bridgewater Hall and Cheltenham Festival, Stephen Threlfall swaps his baton for his bow and returns to his beloved cello to play with The Arensky Trio on Sunday, 19th July at St Bartholomew's Church.

His professional music career began as sub-principal cellist with the BBC Philharmonic, and has led to his current role as Director of Music at Chetham's School of Music and an acclaimed orchestral conductor.

In the Arensky Trio, Stephen is joined by his wife Kathleen Uren on piano, herself a renowned soloist, accompanist and chamber music specialist, and, on violin, by Manchester University's course director of chamber music Louise Latham, well known to many for her inspirational leadership of north west ensembles over the years, including Wilmslow Symphony Orchestra and, currently, the Academy of St Peter's in Hale.

Sunday's recital begins at 3pm and is followed by afternoon tea. Admission is free, with a retiring collection for the church's Organ Restoration Appeal.

St Bartholomew's is fast establishing a reputation as a prestigious music venue, with a Singing Day on 12th September with Stephen Cleobury CBE, Director of Music at King's College Cambridge, already almost fully booked. Visit www.wilmslowparish.org for more details of all events.
