The Summer Serenade Series at St Bartholomew's Church continues on Sunday 21st June with a recital which is especially suitable for Father's Day.
Internationally renowned concert pianist Murray McLachlan will be joined on the stage this Sunday by his wife Kathryn and three of his children – 16 year-old Callum, 14 year-old Matthew and 13-year old Rose - for a special family recital that will make him a very proud dad indeed!
All three children are students of Chetham's School of Music, where dad is Head of Keyboard Studies. Following in father's footsteps, they are already used to performing around the world.
Murray also teaches at the Royal Northern College of Music and is the founder of the Manchester International Concerto competition for young pianists as well as the Founder/Artistic Director of Chetham's International Summer school and festival for Pianists, Europe's largest summer school devoted exclusively to the piano.
The Summer Serenades continue every Sunday through to 26th July, all starting at 3pm and followed by afternoon tea. The line-up includes many familiar names - Manchester Grammar School's Director of Music and harpsichordist, David Francis; cellist, conductor and Director of Music at Chetham's School of Music, Stephen Threlfall; violinist and Course Director of Chamber Music at Manchester University, Louise Latham - all of whom enjoy busy recording, broadcasting and performing careers alongside their high profile work in music education.
Admission to the Summer Serenades is free, with a retiring collection for the church Organ Restoration Appeal.
