Successful souperday takes Wilmslow Wells close to £1m target

Wilmslow Wells for Africa held another very successful souperday at Wilmslow Methodist Church on Saturday, 14th March, which raised £1500.

More than 130 people went along for a bowl of warming soup and home-made bread. The cake stall was as popular as ever and the charity were pleased to have cakes contributed by members of Fulshaw WI, in addition to their usual talented bakers.

Helen Battilana, Chairman of Wilmslow Wells for Africa, said "The charity's trustees met this week to decide how many of the several current proposals we have received can be funded. We have approved three further projects, two in Zambia and one in Uganda, totalling £16,000.

"The total raised to date is about £988,000 – so we are well on our way to this year's fund-raising target of £1 million, since the charity was founded in 1984."
