Film and television actor Ray Winstone was back in Wilmslow today, Monday 1st December, filming more scenes on Water Lane for a new ITV drama.

The Trials of Jimmy Rose tells the story of the notorious armed robber Jimmy Rose, played by Ray Winstone, who throughout his lifetime has made crime pay. He is joined by Amanda Redman who is playing his wife Jackie.

A beautiful detached home on a small executive estate are the profits of his life of crime. But what Jimmy has gained in luxury goods, has undoubtedly come at an enormous cost to his family - and it's a cost Jimmy hasn't really bargained for.

The Trials of Jimmy Rose is a three-part drama written created by Alan Whiting, who has written for Heartbeat, Wire in the Blood, Steel River Blues and Kingdom. It is directed by Adrian Shergold, who is known for Lucan, Mad Dogs and Dirty Filthy Love.

Ray Winstone commented "Alan Whiting has created and written a gift of a role. I'm excited to be playing him and to be working with the great Amanda Redman. She's such a fine actress, and together with Adrian Shergold and the production team, I'm sure we'll be able to bring Jimmy and Jackie to life."

The drama went into production in November and is being filmed around the Manchester area.

Just great to see Wilmslow on the map, loved seeing the photos Xpose on Water Lane shared a couple of weeks ago. Imagine having Ray Winstone use your shop as a location for a days shoot - cool or what!

It is great that Wilmslow is used as a backdrop - but as to the programme I will probably give it a miss. There is currently a trend for portrayal serial criminals, real and fictional, as deeply troubled people, when the victims of their crimes are the real story.
