A lorry struck a bridge under the A34 bypass at the Handforth Dean Retail Park today.
The incident happened shortly after 12pm when the driver tried to travel under the bridge which has a height restriction of 8ft 9 - not high enough to clear his vehicle.
The police are currently recovering the lorry which overturned.
Nobody was hurt in the incident.
A police spokesperson requested on Twitter that drivers please pay attention to road signs, because they have a purpose.

Here's what readers have had to say so far. Why not add your thoughts below.
Again, im not going to comment on fault as i was not there and not involved.
However, the comments from the police are pretty mis-leading....a sign stating that there is a low bridge is one thing, but on the M60 and likewise with other roads and motorways there seems to be signs that say "sign not in use".... with road signs like that is it any wonder people get into a sense of dis-belief?? What purpose does a sign have, that says its not in use??
Rant over!!
In the event of an accident or other incident, matrix signs normally give you some advance warning of what to expect: Queue Ahead / Pedestrian in road / debris in road etc. And when they're off, you can more or less expect normal traffic conditions unless something has literally just happened.
Unless, that is, there's a problem ahead but the matrix sign isn't working. "Sign not in use" then tells you that this matrix sign isn't going to warn you of an upcoming problem, even if there is one - and also if previous sign told you there was an issue, but the current one doesn't - it doesn't mean the problem has been cleared.
But that's not really relevant here. There is a matrix sign here which should be triggered with an overheight vehicle. I assume that is still working? There are at least 3 fixed height warning signs as well though.
