Disgust as three poppy boxes stolen in Handforth

Three poppy appeal collection boxes have been stolen from Handforth in the space of a week.

Earlier this week we reported that a prolific thief had been jailed for 16 weeks for four separate thefts which included stealing a poppy tin from Ladbrooks in Handforth. We have now been informed that collection boxes were also taken from Tesco Express at The Paddock and the Bulls Head on Wilmslow Road.

Volunteer Pat Hodson, 63, whose husband David is president of the Handforth branch of The British Legion, said "It is absolutely disgusting, Dave is proper upset."

She added "The manager at Tesco Express was very upset, they made a box up and put Poppy Appeal on it and at the Bulls Head staff put in £16 of their own money."

Neither businesses know when the collection boxes were taken.

I think the people who stole the collection boxes should all be put away for a lack of respect to all of the brave soldiers that have lost there lives for our once fantastic country..I fined it upsetting the way this country is going..

Putting these people in prison is not the answer as we as tax payers will have to pay for them. They should be made to work in the hospitals where our brave injured soldiers are coming to terms with their horrific injuries. Maybe they will see first hand why we have the collection boxes in public places and why we wear our poppies with pride.

A guy who claimed to be an ex soldier stole one from the Kings Arms years ago. It's probably the same guy
