A prolific offender from Wilmslow who stole a poppy appeal collection box the week before Remembrance Day was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison on Friday, 8th November, after admitting to four separate thefts from various locations in the Wilmslow area.

Luke Curtis, 44, of Barlow Road admitted to stealing a poppy appeal collection box from Ladbrooks on Wilmslow Road, Handforth on 5th November containing an unknown quantity of money and three handbags valued at £120 from Oufit in Handforth Dean on 1st November.

He also admitted to stealing £50 worth of steaks from Waitrose in Alderley Edge on 18th October and two bottles of spirits valued at £21 from Lidl in Wilmslow on 3rd October.

Sgt Andy Miller, The Community Sgt at Wilmslow Police Station, said "Thanks to the hard work of numerous staff at Wilmslow Police station Curtis has been jailed for 16 weeks. The theft of a poppy tin as I am sure most people would agree is a particularly despicable crime when people have given their money to such a worthy cause."
