Victoria Pendleton delights the crowds

Victoria Pendleton was in town on Saturday, attracting a crowd of fans eager to meet the Olympic champion cyclist.

The double Olympic gold medallist took to the roads of Cheshire in the morning, with the Gatorade Hit Squad, for a two hour ride - stopping off at Jodrell Bank for refreshments.

The event was the latest in a series of Gatorade Hit Squad rides, which have been taking place across the country over the summer.

Victoria was joined on the ride by her fiancé Scott Gardner, Royles staff members, competition winners and the Hit Squad who were handing out bottles, snoods and various Gatorade goodies to the amateur riders they met en route.

She then returned to the Royles cycle store on Knutsford Road to sign autographs and have photographs taken with fans, who were absolutely delighted to meet our local sporting hero.

Amongst those she chatted to were Florence Collier and Brian Fox who are campaigning for a 20mph speed limit zone to be introduced in Wilmslow. They were very pleased that Victoria agreed to support their campaign for safer streets.
