Wilmslow Symphony Orchestra's opening concert of the season will begin with Nielsen's Helios Overture, inspired by the sun and warmth of the South and named after the Greek God of the sun.

Principal trombonist, Gareth Brown, will play the dramatic Trombone Concerto, composed by the talented Danish composer and conductor Launy Grondahl, during his time in Italy. The final work in the concert will be the most popular and the most frequently recorded of the Sibelius symphonies, Symphony No.2.

Alec Frank-Gemmill will conduct the concert and their leader is Rosy Williams.

The concert is in the Evans Hall at Wilmslow Leisure Centre, starting at 7.30pm. Tickets are £15, concessions £13 and under 18 £2 and are available online from the website, from the ticket secretary on 0161 928 2679 or at the door.
