Manchester United's Millie Turner, from Wilmslow and a former Wilmslow High School Student, will switch on Wilmslow's Christmas lights this year.
Wilmslow's Christmas lights switch-on event will commence at 10am with the opening of the Christmas Artisan Market on Alderley Road.
Santa's reindeer can be visited at the entrance to Wilmslow High School (Holly Road side) from 3pm until 4pm. Then, at 4pm, the reindeer will prepare to pull Santa in his sleigh from the High School to Wilmslow Leisure Centre. The 10-minute parade will travel down Broadway, turning right towards the Leisure Centre and stopping at the cricket pitch in front of the Leisure Centre.
The lights switch-on stage will be near Bank Square, where WFA's Erik Garner will host music and entertainment from 2.45pm.
The Town Council has confirmed that the stage's sound and lights have also been enhanced in response to feedback at last year's event, and more road closures will be in place around Bank Square, to allow better stage positioning and more space for residents to relax and enjoy the event with refreshments from town centre businesses. A selection of town centre cafes and restaurants will be running pop-up stalls with refreshments including sweet treats, mulled wine & cider, hot dogs and hog roast.
The stage line-up includes Rock Choir, Wilmslow High School's Jazz band, Stagecoach, Wilmslow High School's Senior Choir, DATS and St Anne's Fulshaw Primary School Choir. Following the big countdown with Santa, Millie Turner will switch Wilmslow's Christmas lights on at around 5pm.
