Wilmslow Christmas Lights Switch-On

The theme for this year's Wilmslow Christmas lights switch-on event is The Twelve Days of Christmas, in One Day.

The event will start from midday and will finish at 5pm with the switch-on of the lights. Between midday and 3pm there will be various community groups performing in five different areas of the town.

Then from 3.30pm the main acts will start to perform in Bank Square. Father Christmas who will have been taking visitors in his Grotto from midday, will then lead a parade through the town with his reindeer at 4pm, to arrive at Bank Square at 5pm in time to join our celebrities in switching on the lights.

11am - Christmas story time with Santa for children aged up to 7 years at the Coach & Four on Alderley Road.
11.30am - Actors Lab stars of tomorrow performing a selection of Yuletide favourites at the rear of Anthology on Swan Street.
12pm - Rockit - Contemporary singing and dancing performance at TruKitchen on Alderley Road.
12.30pm - Alderley & Wilmslow Musical Theatre Group perform a scene from Irving Berlin’s ‘White Christmas’ at TruKitchen on Alderley Road.
1pm - A Christmas String Quartet at Wilmslow Methodist Church on Water Lane.
1.30pm - Oakmere Singers, a festive sing along at Wilmslow Methodist Church on Water Lane.
2pm - A Stagecoach Christmas, Christmas carols by the performing arts group at The Old Dancer on Grove Street.
2.30pm - Wilmslow High School Choir at Revolution on Alderley Road.
3pm - Wilmslow Symphony Orchestra at The Old Dancer on Grove Street.
3.30pm - Entertainment will start on the main stage in Bank Square. Including Ewan Sim, Drew Selby, Boy Band: Fast Exit & Magic Voices.
5pm - Christmas Lights Switch On by Hollyoaks star Ashley Taylor-Dawson.
11.30 to 3.30pm - Father Christmas will be in his grotto outside Barclays Bank. You can visit him for £5 and receive a small gift from his elves.
4pm - Father Christmas and his reindeer will make their way from behind Hoopers along Alderley service road, down Grove Street to Grove Avenue where they can be visited in their pen before the light switch on.
Road closures will be in place from 1pm onwards on Alderley Service Road, Grove Street, Grove Avenue and Green Lane to enable Santa and his reindeer to parade through the town.
