Due to a resignation, a vacancy exists at Wilmslow Town Council for the Lacey Green Ward of the town.

As reported last week, Trevor Jones stepped down on Thursday 9th January for health reasons.

The vacancy will be filled by election if, within fourteen days (excluding weekends and Bank Holidays) from 21st January, any ten voters in the Lacey Green Ward submit a written request for an election.

If this happens there will be a period of time for candidates to be nominated and if more than one candidate is nominated there will be an election.

If no such request is made, the vacancy will be filled by the Town Council, who will be at liberty to select who they wish, provided the person qualifies to be a councillor.

Any request for an election to be held to fill the vacancy must be in writing and sent to the Returning Officer, Cheshire East Borough Council, Westfields, Middlewich Road, Sandbach, CW11 1HZ not later than: 10th February 2014.

Attached is a copy of the notice and form which can be completed should you wish to request an election.

Is there perhaps an error on the form? In the first half it refers to Lacey Green Ward but in the second half it refers to Dean Row ward.

How on earth does one find one's "electoral number"?

@pete Taylor
I'm very gratified you are expressing concern for the detail in this matter as you in particular have all the appropriate attributes to stand... honesty Integrity..... find that number Pete !!....

.... and as these Issues should be simply be yes and no... and that's it; you could be the man for the job... straight talking and concerned resident... We all at some stage say things we don’t mean, say yes to things we don’t want or no to things we do. And a “no” doesn't necessarily stay a “no. Sometimes a “no” can be turned into a “yes”, but from reading recent threads here sometimes a “yes” will shift into a “no” so fast your head will spin, I.E.; something protected isn't protected etc etc ... So as long as the council ( or new councillor !!) can maintain this clarity or hopefully significantly improve communication alongside the meaning the populous do actually understand as per Oxford English Dictionary definition of Yes /Now/Protected etc... then
we will all be OK...........
