Police issue warning following spate of burglaries

Following an increase in burglaries across Wilmslow during the months of December and January, your local Neighbourhood Policing Team is urging residents to remain vigilant to reduce the chances of your property being targeted this winter, in particular during the hours of darkness.

Six burglaries took place in Wilmslow during December, along with two attempts, and so far this month there has been seven burglaries and one distraction.

Police say nearly 40% of the reported burglaries could have been avoided and have occurred through insecure windows and doors. There has recently been a spate of offences whereby implements have been used to hook keys through letter boxes.

A number of arrests have been made in relation to burglaries in the area and these investigations are still on going.

A police spokesperson said "We will continue to target those committing offences in the area, but are asking for people to come forward with information that can assist."

To report information regarding burglary in your area, please contact the police on 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
