Travellers set up camp on Earl Road again

lisa

Travellers have once again removed a road block to enable them to set up camp near Handforth Dean.

They moved the two large tree stumps, which the Council had placed across Earl Road, on Tuesday evening and six caravans are now parked at the end of the road.

A spokesperson for Cheshire East Council said: "The Council is aware of a group of Travellers, consisting of six caravans, based on the verge of Earl Road, a cul de sac in Handforth. They arrived on Tuesday evening (November 19).

"Council officers have visited the location and we are now moving forward with the legal process to secure possession of the site."

This is the second time in just over a month that travellers have moved the road block to gain access and set up camp at the end of Earl Road.

Cunning plan by Cheshire East to use tree stumps to prevent access to people, cos it's not like this crew would have a 4x4 and kit to shift them out of the way!!

Yet again Cheshire East have failed Wilmslow. When will they show some backbone and deal with the problem properly. These Travellers will keep coming back because they know what a pushover the Council are.

Why do we refer to them as 'travellers' ? They now live permanently ,thanks to the council,in the local area. Can we now start charging them for services!!

This is the second time they moved the tree stumps, what did they expect if they moved them the first time?? All their kids with a tug-o-war rope could easily drag that stump away!

Maybe as the council have dropped the garden waste collection for the next few months, the travellers see easy money coming their way this winter!!

As with any action, the question is why ?

Why would "travellers" want to locate themselves near to the A34 with easy access to Wilmslow and Alderley Edge.

I just hope these travellers do not find the unguarded Romany's Caravan site !

Thus proving once again that CEC cannot safeguard anything except green fields for developers. Repeated offences are treated equally without teeth.
CEC fail to manage gypsy/traveller illegal visits because back they come with impunity. Plenty of sites in the NW and in Cheshire. GMC know what to do, with police. Private land owners know what to do with private security firms. They get moved and don't come back. I repeat, sites are available.

CEC 's incompetence [or apathy] is frankly unbelievable.

I forecast this, before they went there for the first time.
So, we have a repeat again. This only shows the residents of Wilmslow the intelligence of our officials in charge.
A barrier of half trees, which are round! It is obvious that they have not worked in the real world, and are static, on their seats, in their Sandbach tower.

These travellers are damn good at moving stuff.

Wonder if they do green wheelie bins?

I have a few questions:

1) Why not painting double yellow lines on the road and tow away anything that parks on them?

2) Or use ASBO laws to prevent people returning to ANY illegal sites in Cheshire?

3) Are CE council naturally this stupid or do they get up early in the morning and practice at it?

@Mark Goldsmith your point 3. It takes plenty of practice to be this stupid, heaven knows the council have had with the travellers.

Its just symbolic of this class of semi professional, led by the nose jobsworth how are cowed by their political masters, corporates, developers, minorities and vested interests. We just pay our enforced tax or fined, bailiffs or even prison. This lot squander millions and get payoffs. There is no true local democracy, look at the green belt issues - all being dictated to by builders and chums in Westminster and then carried out by subservient local councillors. You did half of what these travellers do your collar what be felt so fast your feet would,t touch the ground. Rant over.

It's 5th December and the travellers are still there.

If CE, WTC or Cheshire Constabulary can't co-ordinate to sort this out quickly and efficiently, then what hope is there for anything more serious?

Mark there are yellow lines, the police/council choose not to enforce. Very frustrating!
