Wilmslow's newest and only non-conservative town councillor is to hold monthly public surgeries.

Councillor Philip Enstone, who represents the Residents of Wilmslow (RoW) in the Dean Row ward will be holding his first surgery next week, offering residents the opportunity to discuss any issues they have relating to local services.

Phil Enstone will be holding his surgeries as part of the RoW monthly meetings, with the first taking place on Thursday, 14th November, from 7pm to 7.30pm.

He explained "The reason we have decided to hold a surgery as part of our monthly management meeting is because we would like members of the public to have the opportunity to let us know of any of their concerns, not only issues related to the development of Wilmslow.

"As we are the only independent group within the Town Council we feel it will allow the public the opportunity to table an issue that they may have felt has not be addressed in the past or would like us to raise on their behalf."

He added "As there is a lot of concern regarding the safeguarded land on Adlington Road and the uncertainty regarding the Draft Core Strategy that is due out on Tuesday, the surgery will allow members of the public the opportunity to seek advice once we are able to analysis the information.

"The surgeries are open to anyone within the Wilmslow area, not just the residents of Dean Row Ward, and will be for the first 30 minutes of our management meeting. However, if required the surgery will last as long as is required."

Philip's surgeries are planned for every second Thursday of the month – so will take place on 12th December, 9th January, 13th February, 13th March, 10th April etc.

RoW can be contacted by email at [email protected] or by phoning 07796 070890, 07930 377778 or 07940 500930.

I suggest that this surgery is held at Dean Row Village Hall on the 14th. Jones Homes have just leafleted Wilmslow Park inviting residents to a "drop in session" on that day and at that venue to see the "emerging plans for the residential development" on the Adlington Road site. Their leaflet is fronted with a pictue of beautiful trees and open space - singularly inappropriate when they are going to build all over it.

What a splendid idea; the best bit: "The surgeries are open to anyone within the Wilmslow area, not just the residents of Dean Row Ward, and will be for the first 30 minutes of our management meeting. However, if required the surgery will last as long as is required."

Such a shame that the WTC only allows ten minutes at the beginning of the council meetings for their electors to comment and none (as far as I can tell) of the other members hold a surgery to engage with the people who elect them.

Jackie; I have no doubt that the view from Woodbrook Road in Alderley Edge "is fronted with a pictue of beautiful trees and open space", quite a long way from Ardwick.
Wonderful thing; the internet.

Just one of the very many concerns expressed to RoW's canvassers during the recent Dean Row by-election, in which our candidate Phil Enstone was successful, is that once politicians win their election they disappear from view.
RoW has therefore acted upon a number of relevant issues recently expressed, one of which is that Councillor Phil Enstone will be very much on view and available to listen and talk with all electors who have concerns with the services they receive or do not at the forthcoming RoW monthly surgeries. Phil can of course be contacted throughout the rest of the month via one of the contact points in the article.
Residents of Wilmslow believe that democracy goes well beyond the ballot box and wish to bring this important element back into our local political arena.
