Businesses plan for gingerbread man invasion

Several small independent businesses have got together to organise a family treasure hunt around Wilmslow in the run up to Christmas.

Families will be able to follow the gingerbread man trail around the town, to discover the small individually named characters and receive lots of surprises and treats for the whole family.

The initial idea was formulated by Jane Williams of Hawthorns Deli, Kate Johnson of Willow Tree Bears and Sarah Kilgour of Skil Design & Marketing and nearly twenty businesses have already expressed an interest in joining in.

The aims of the family event are to promote all of the varied small shops and businesses in the town, encourage residents to stay and shop in Wilmslow over the Christmas period and to discover many businesses that they may not have been aware of. Plus for families to have fun doing the treasure hunt.

The event will take place from the end of November, to tie in with the switching on of the Xmas lights on Thursday 28th November, and finish on Saturday 14th December.

Jane Williams explained "There will be amazing prizes of hampers full of goodies donated by all of the businesses which could include vouchers for free hair cuts and beauty treatments, champagne, food, toys, discounts etc. We are hoping that these prizes will be given to the winning family by Father Christmas at a special ceremony.

"As well as these fabulous prizes, each of the businesses taking part will be giving the treasure hunters a small gift/treat or surprise for them to collect in a goodie bag as they go round and do the hunt."

Any businesses interested in taking part in the treasure hunt can email Jane Williams.
