Drugs, ammunition and suspected stolen goods were recovered following the raids.

Detective Inspector Paul Parker said: "We launched Operation Pavel following a spate of robberies, burglaries and vehicle crime that went from Wythenshawe, Cheadle and Hale to as far afield as Wilmslow in Cheshire.

"Today, a large-scale operation has been in place and we have also worked closely with our colleagues at Cheshire Police.

"We believe that these offences are linked to organised criminality and we are committed to tackling organised crime groups.

"We know that the answers to tackling organised crime lie in the communities where these people operate, so we are asking residents to take a stand with us and together we can bring about real change.

"These are your communities. If you tell us what action needs taking, then through your local police officers and the local authority, we will take it and together we will dismantle criminal networks."
