The South Manchester Triathlon takes place in Wilmslow on Sunday 22nd September and with more than half of the 600 places snapped up organisers are forecasting a sell out.
The South Manchester Triathlon, which was launched in 2012, is a sprint distance triathlon aimed at both novices and experienced triathletes and it is also the last event of the Xtra Mile Events Tri Sprint Series, concluding the 2013 series. Athletes can however sign up to the triathlon as a single event only.
The start, finish and transition area are on the cricket pitch at Wilmslow Leisure Centre and the 400m swim takes place in the 25m indoor pool, with triathletes starting in waves throughout the day. The bike leg covers a distance of 24.2 km around Wilmslow and the scenic Cheshire plains, followed by a mostly flat 6.3 km run along Wilmslow's quiet, leafy roads taking in views of the River Bollin.
Race Director Simon Hill commented: "We are looking forward to bringing the South Manchester Triathlon back for 2013. This is such a friendly event and the Wilmslow Leisure Centre is a great venue with shower facilities, pre- and post race massages, a café and on site parking. This is the perfect race for triathletes of all levels to finish their season on a high.
"Entries have been selling fast and we expect a strong presence from triathlon clubs across the region to be on the start line and to compete for the winning title next month."
Event costs are £42 for individual entries or £55 for team relay entries, including numbered racking, electronic chip timing and a goody bag. The prize giving takes place after the event, with prizes awarded to the overall winners (male and female), male and female age group winners, as well as the winning club, relay team and the first novice.
