CycleWilmslow aim to get people on their bike

Bike Ride April 2013

CycleWilmslow are helping to "Get Wilmslow Cycling" through a variety of initiatives this summer, thanks to financial support from the likes of Cheshire East Council, Wilmslow Town Council and the National Trust.

The cycling campaign group will unveil a revised cycling map for the area by early August. As well as detailing quieter roads across Wilmslow, Handforth, Alderley and Styal the publication will suggest leisure ride routes of varying lengths. Once published the free map will be available from local cycle shops, libraries, cafes and doctors surgeries.

The group will also subsidise a series of basic cycle maintenance lessons, delivered by qualified mechanic Darren Allgood. The first 90-minute course will be take place at St Chad's Church Hall in Handforth on Tuesday 23rd July, starting at 7pm.

Attendees do not need to bring a bike with them. The subsidised cost is only £5 and people can book via [email protected] or 07779 483713. Interest in attending future cycle training or maintenance courses can be registered in the same way.

CycleWilmslow's Chair, Lucy Lewis said: "We are delighted to be working on these initiatives and are grateful those that have backed our programme financially. The new cycle map will be a real boon to people wanting to discover the local area by bike, whilst the maintenance classes will give people confidence to keep their bikes in good repair and mend faults when out and about."
