The finishing touches are being put to a £1 million sports bar which is preparing to open in Parsonage Green next month.

Bar Sport is set to open in early May at the former La Tasca Restaurant, creating over 20 jobs.

The venue will be on two floors with a bar and dance floor facilities downstairs and an exclusive VIP area upstairs.

The premises will accommodate 50 HD and 3D TV screens, showing live sport from around the globe all day every day and will display authentic sports memorabilia. It will have an American themed food menu, offer regular music entertainment and special themed nights.

The venue will also regularly invite sport stars and legends. Other Bar Sport venues have seen visits from the likes of former two-weight boxing world champion Ricky Hatton and World Cup legends including Nobby Stiles and Gordon Banks.

Bar Sport, which was first set up in the West Midlands in 1998, was one of the first American style themed bars and now operates eight franchises around the country.

Daniel Slifkin, aged 45, Bar Sport franchisee at Wilmslow, is excited at the prospect of opening a sports bar in the town.

He said: "I am a huge sports fan myself and had thought about opening a sports bar for some time. I had seen the vacant premises on Parsonage Green and thought it would be an excellent opportunity. I did some research and found out about the Bar Sport franchise and knew it was for me. There isn't anything like this in Wilmslow and I am hoping it will be a great success.

"There is a bar downstairs and we have created a special VIP area upstairs which can also be used for exclusive private parties. We have spent a lot of money on the venue to make it a special and unique venue for Wilmslow and we hope it will become very popular.

"We will also be creating over 20 full time and part time jobs in the process which is great news for the local community."

A date for the opening will be finalised shortly and the venue will be hosting an exclusive VIP launch party.
