Wilmslow residents are being urged to take their cars to their local fire station rather than the car wash on Saturday, 16th March, as firefighters with the help of fire cadets and volunteers will be out with their buckets and sponges to help raise as much money as they can for The Fire Fighters Charity.

The charity car wash will take place at Wilmslow Fire Station and staff will also provide all drivers with vital road safety advice.

Deputy Chief Fire Officer Mark Cashin said, "The charity car wash is a great way to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity which has provided assistance to serving and retired firefighters for more than 60 years and also to increase awareness of road safety.

"Unfortunately our firefighters see first hand the tragic consequences of road traffic collisions and I really hope that drivers will go along and support this event as they will not only be helping The Fire Fighters Charity but they will also take away vital road safety advice which could save their lives."

The charity car wash will take place on Saturday 16th March at Wilmslow Fire Station on Altrincham Road between 10am and 3pm.

Are these the same firemen who periodically go on strike for more pay, hence putting lives and property at risk? Guys if you want to be a part of the community then act as such, don't threaten us with strikes. Your fund raising for Charity is laudable, but I think I shall give it a miss......
