Orchestra returns with an evening of Scandinavian music

The Wilmslow Symphony Orchestra makes a welcome return to the Evans Leisure Centre for their first concert of 2013 on Saturday 23rd February, with a programme of Scandinavian music.

The programme will include Sibelius's (Finland) Symphony No. 2, Nielsen's (Denmark) Helios overture and Grieg's (Norway) Piano concerto, featuring young local soloist Jackie Campbell. The concert, which commences at 7.45pm, also welcomes back to Wilmslow the ever popular British conductor Mark Heron.

Salford soloist, Jackie Campbell was born in 2000 and at the age of three joined the Yamaha Keyboard School. In 2006 he became a private pupil of the piano teacher Simon Bottomley. Two years later, upon receiving a government scholarship for music and drama, he began to attend Chetham's School of Music, continuing study with Mr Bottomley.

Since his first public recital in 2006, Jackie has performed extensively across the UK and abroad, winning many national and international awards. His performances have been well received by Phillip Fowke, John Humphreys, Noriko Ogawa, Lucy Parham, Graham Scott and Bryce Morrison, the latter having described him as "A major talent, with already an abundance of gifts (both musical and technical) on offer".

Guests are able to partake of refreshments beforehand in the relaxed atmosphere of the bar, which will be open both before the concert and during the interval. Free parking is also available at the Leisure Centre during the evenings.

Tickets, priced £10 for adults and £2 for under 18s, which includes the price of our programme, are available at the door or in advance from the Box office hot line 01925 756144.
