What do the NHS reforms mean to Wilmslow?

A meeting is being held next week offering local residents the opportunity to find out more about NHS reforms and how they will affect the local area.

The Health and Social Care Act 2012 has resulted in major changes to the way that health services are commissioned, delivered and monitored for the population of Eastern Cheshire.

One of the main outcomes of the new Act is the abolition of Primary Care Trusts in April 2013 and the development of Clinical Commissioning Groups.

The NHS Eastern Cheshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is holding a public engagement event at Wilmslow Library on Wednesday, 23rd January.

Members of the public will be given the opportunity to hear about the development of the NHS Eastern Cheshire CCG, which is made up of the 23 member GP practices within the towns of Alderley Edge, Bollington, Chelford, Congleton, Disley, Handforth, Holmes Chapel, Knutsford, Macclesfield, Poynton and Wilmslow. The headquarters of the Clinical Commissioning Group is based out of Macclesfield.

There will also be an opportunity for an informal question and answer session with the GP Chair (Paul Bowen from Mcllvride Practice in Poynton), the Chief Officer Jerry Hawker and local GP Julia Huddart from Kenmore Medical Centre will also be in attendance, along with other members of the clinical commissioning group.

The meeting will take place in the upstairs meeting room at Wilmslow Library from 7pm to 9pm.

If you would like to ask a question, or for further details about the event please email Rebecca Patel, Public Engagement Manager, or call her on 01625 663 864.
